Book direct to get the best deals and support your nation's business. The majority of agents are overseas based, avoid paying UK taxes and did hardly anything to support actual hotels during the COVID-19 crisis (some even shut their booking engines so they don't have to field enquiries!).
When you book through an agent, typically as much as 25 percent will be sliced off the service/product value for the agent. That loss in value has to be paid for somehow and usually that's in higher than needed pricing or poorer service. It does next to nothing for the value you receive when you book through an internet based agent. Book direct to get the best service, best deals and best value and to support UK jobs your national businesses.

a very friendly hotel all staff very polite and helpful this was our second visit and looking forward to our next one our room was clean and warm breakfast was hot with a good choice disabled friendly - Trip advisor Dec 17
When I read the reviews of this hotel, I was genuinely extremely worried to stay here but the horrible reviews are not a true reflection of what The Queensgate Hotel is like. The three rooms we had were large, comfortable and clean. Yes the hotel looks a little tired and could do with new carpet and new curtains, but overall it's a pleasant hotel. I cannot fault the staff! They were absolutely fantastic. The chef and kitchen staff catered perfectly for my allergy needs, all the food is home made, cooked to order to your preference and is served piping hot. Trip Advisor Oct 17

We stayed for 1 night on a weekend deal that included breakfast in the price of the room. The room was very clean, and smelt nice, the bed very comfortable and there were extras like a trouser press. We felt the service was very good, we had no problems finding a space to park in the large carpark to the rear of the hotel, and as we were coming back after hours we were given perfect instructions for reentering the hotel when the main doors were closed. The breakfast was as expected, and very pleasant.
"Three nights in Feb" - I was working in Peterborough and stayed at the Queensgate for three nights - it was comfortable, staff were lovely and helpful, and the food was a acceptable - all for a very good price. So if you need reasonably price accommodation, I would recommend the Queensgate. My only observation is that breakfast could do with a bit of an upgrade as it is a little basic. In summary, it isn't fancy but it is clean (and smelt clean - always a plus in my book!) and tidy and has all of the facilities you would expect and the wifi was reliable. Just what I needed. Stayed February 2017, travelled on business. Trip Advisor review Feb 17
"Fab hotel, lovely staff" - The hotel was lovely and clean. Our room was fab with excellent facilities. We ate in the restaurant and the burgers were wonderful. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Lots of parking and a 10 min walk into the town centre. Good value for money! Trip Advisor review Feb 17
